Novell's SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 launch is coming to Canberra on the 22nd of August at the National Museum of Australia.

Novell will be demonstrating their latest offerings for server and desktop, including XEN virtualisation, AppArmor application security and the XGL powered 3D desktop.

Thanks to all those that attended the first meeting of BLUG (now renamed to FOSSACT). We had a good turn-out of about 24 people from local IT companies and Government.

We achieved the objectives of the meeting which were to:

1. Agree on meeting locations,
2. Agree on meeting date/times, and
3. Form a committee

The meeting started off with a general welcome & explanation of why Canberra needs to have a user group focussed on business needs and FOSS.

FOSSACT is a user group focussed on promoting and supporting the use of free and open source software in Business and Government in the Australian Capitol Terrority and surrounding regions.

FOSSACT meets every month on the first Friday of the month.

FOSSACT meetings are held at the Kurrajong Hotel in Barton, Canberra.
